Live Radio Interview

  • Feb 21, 2017

Kay did a live radio interview Radio Verulam with Nick Hazell. During the interview Kay and Nick talked about Home Care in St Albans and discussed the services that Nannies 4 Grannies offers, how we started and where we operate. Check it out here Live Radio Interview link.

What we do

  • Our aim is to help elderly people to remain independent in their own homes by providing companionship and home support
  • They may be lonely and in need of some companionship  or may require help with some of the day to day tasks that become too much for them to handle on their own.
  • For example some clients need assistance either on a short or long term basis following a return from hospital
Examples of some of the home care and support services we do include:
  • Companionship
  • Shopping/running errands
  • Cleaning - General help around the house/laundry/garden
  • Cooking – meal preparation
  • Taking to appointments: doctors, hospital, chiropodist, hairdressers
  • Filling out forms
  • Taking out to coffee mornings, cinema, garden centres

We are happy to help in any way that we can.

How it works

  • We meet with the client or the client’s family to discuss needs and put together a specifically tailored service.

  • Clients may require daily or weekly visits for an hour or more.  This may be short or long term.  We are flexible and will work the hours the client needs, including early morning, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

  • We believe in continuity of care and do our best to ensure that each client sees the same Nanny every time help is required.

Our Nannies

  • Have all been DBS checked
  • Are over 25 years old
  • Have been interviewed and reference checked
  • Receive regular, topic specific appropriate training
  • Are local men and women with a wealth of experience and knowledge about the local area and the facilities and/or community groups that are available.
  • Are conscientious and trustworthy, friendly and experienced with a sympathetic ear.

How it started

  • We started the company from a small office in Harpenden 2 years ago after I had been caring for my own elderly family relatives in their own homes.  The challenge was finding someone who could cover for me when I was too far away or had other commitments.
  • We realised that we needed someone we could trust to step into our shoes and be on hand.
  • We have now moved to a small office in St Albans and being locally focused we are convenient and flexible.
  • If anyone listening would like an initial chat, either for themselves or an elderly loved one, please contact me on: 01727 857988 or email kay@nannies4grannies.co.uk
